"Down That Road" by Jeffster
When I raise my voice to you
don't think it's out of anger
sometimes the frustration
brings my emotions to a boil
Following a distant voice
Unsure of my tomorrow
Every time I make a stand
it seems to crumble just like sand
Broken hearts of forgotten dreams
seem to captivate my mind
trapped in a past I cannot change
my life goes on without me
I long to drive down that road
where nothing waits for me
no deadlines or limits to where I go
just the sky stretched out before me
Someday, somebody
the songs go on so vague
my body follows a different path
and defeats the armor on my heart
Something about the open road
and a candle in a mirror
dreams dusted off by a cunning adventurer
pathways gilded by a far off memory
I long to drive down that road
where nothing waits for me
no deadlines or limits to where I go
just the sky stretched out before me
Power to the weak ones
wealth to the poor
mind bogglers to the smart ones
inspiration to the fools
I think I lost the spirit of it
somewhere in the music
The songs got trapped in the life of crimes
powerless to escape
But I still feel
The way is clear
my soul is calm and empty
waiting for my mind to give up the fight
And my heart to free within me.
I long to drive down that road
where nothing waits for me
no deadlines or limits to where I go
just the sky stretched out before me.
One day I'll get there
my family by my side
zooming through corridors of time
blood veins of lives i'll never know
feeling the air of true meaning
flowing over us like waves
until we touch the sky
and close all the openings to pits
and remain to glow on high.
